VETOCANIS ACTION DUO 67 MG/20 MG SPOT-ON SOLUTION FOR SMALL DOGS

Pharmaceutical form: Spot-on

Target species: Dogs from 2 to 10 kg

Indication: To be used against infestations by fleas only or against infestations by both fleas and ticks.

ACTIVE PERIOD

Flea eggs > 12 weeks
Fleas > 7 weeks
Ticks > 2 to 4 weeks

Read the information leaflet before use

Method and route of administration: Spot-on.

Dosage: for a dog weighing 2 to 10 kg, apply one 0.67 mL pipette, corresponding to the minimum recommended dose of 6.7 mg of fipronil per kg of body weight and 2 mg of pyriproxyfen per kg of body weight.

For dogs over 60 kg, use the appropriate combination of pipettes.

Method of administration:

Remove the pipette from its blister pack. Hold it in a vertical position. Tap the narrow part of the pipette to make sure that the contents have moved down into the central part of the pipette. Break the break-off end of the pipette by following the drawn line.
Spread the animal’s hairs at the base of the neck, forward of the shoulder blades, until the skin is visible. Place the nozzle of the pipette directly on to the exposed skin. Gently press the central part of the pipette several times to fully expel the contents. If necessary, and particularly in large dogs, the contents of the pipette can be applied to one or two additional places along the animal’s back to prevent the liquid from flowing on to its sides or remaining too near the surface of the coat.

Anti-drip system (the product is only released by pressing on the central part of the pipette).

One pipette corresponds to one treatment, which can be repeated on the basis of one application per month.

Specific conditions for storage:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
Store in a dry place.
Keep the blister packs in their outer packaging in order to protect from the light.

Take particular care to avoid any licking of the product application area by the treated dog or any other animal in contact with it. Do not apply the product on a wound or on a skin lesion. In the absence of any additional safety studies, the minimum interval between two treatments should be 4 weeks. The safety of this product has not been studied in sick or weaker dogs.

- SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PERSON WHO ADMINISTERS THE VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCT TO THE ANIMALS: The product can cause nervous disorders. The product may be harmful if swallowed. Do not get on skin or in mouth. Avoid swallowing the product or putting your hand to your mouth after use. Do not smoke, drink or eat while applying the product. Wash your hands after use. Until the site of application is dry, do not touch the treated animals and do not allow children to play with them. It is therefore recommended not to treat animals during the day but rather in the early evening, and once treated the animals should not be allowed to sleep with their owners, in particular with children. Keep the pipettes in their original packaging and dispose of them immediately after use in an appropriate manner. In case of accidental contact with the skin, wash immediately with water. If accidentally swallowed, get immediate medical advice/attention and show the doctor the information notice or the packaging. Other precautions:  Fipronil and pyriproxyfen can have adverse effects on aquatic organisms. Do not allow dogs to swim in waterways in the 48 hours following the application of the product (see the section “Special precautions to be taken when disposing of unused veterinary medicinal products or waste derived from the use of these medicinal products”). The product can have adverse effects on the surfaces, materials and furniture in the house. Wait until the site of application is dry before allowing contact with these materials.

- ADVERSE EFFECTS (FREQUENCY AND SEVERITY): Temporary changes in appearance, such as wetness or slight flaking, may be observed at the site of application. Based on accumulated experience with spot-on active substances, transient local skin reactions (flaking, alopecia, pruritus, erythema, skin discolouration) and generalised pruritus or alopecia may be observed. In very rare cases, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperaesthesia, tiredness, other nerve-related symptoms), breathing disorders or vomiting may occur.

- USE DURING GESTATION, LACTATION OR LAYING: Laboratory studies carried out on fipronil and pyriproxyfen have not shown any teratogenic or embryotoxic effect. No studies have been carried out with this product on pregnant or lactating female dogs. The use of the product in gestating or lactating dogs should only be done after assessment of the benefit/risk relationship by the relevant vet.

- DOSAGE AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: For a dog weighing 2 to 10 kg, apply one 0.67 ml pipette, corresponding to the minimum recommended dose of 6.7 mg of fipronil per kg of body weight and 2 mg of pyriproxyfen per kg of body weight. Method of administration: Remove the pipette from its blister pack. For optimal control of flea and tick infestations and of flea reproduction, the frequency of applications may be based on local epidemiological conditions.

- EXCESSIVE DOSE (SYMPTOMS, EMERGENCY PROCEDURE, ANTIDOTES), IF NECESSARY: No serious adverse effects were observed in a safety study on 10 week old puppies treated with up to 5 times the maximum recommended dose 3 times at 4-weekly intervals and treated with the maximum recommended dose 6 times at 4-weekly intervals. The risk of adverse effects (see section “Adverse effects (frequency and severity)”) can however increase with excessive doses, so animals should always be treated with the size of pipette appropriate to their weight.

- SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR STORAGE: Do not store at a temperature above 30 °C. Store in a dry place. Keep the blister packs in their outer packaging in order to protect them from the light.

- SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN WHEN DISPOSING OF UNUSED VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCTS OR WASTE DERIVED FROM THE USE OF THESE MEDICINAL PRODUCTS: Empty packaging and any residual product should be disposed of in accordance with the practices governed by the regulations on waste. Can I use the Action Duo pipette on my puppy?

Yes, the anti-flea and anti-tick solution for small dogs is suitable for puppies over 10 weeks old and weighing more than 2 kg.

What are the active substances in the pipette?

The pipette kills fleas and ticks with fipronil, as well as flea eggs, with pyriproxyfen, two insecticidal substances. The dose of Fipronil per pipette is established based on the weight of your dog. Be sure to keep to the recommended dosage for your dog to avoid excessive doses.

When should I apply the Action pipette to my dog?

When your dog and your house are already infested by fleas or ticks, it is time to apply the Action Duo pipette to your animal, to eliminate the parasites immediately and prevent a new infestation. The period of active protection against fleas is 7 weeks.

ACTION DUO Pipette

Fleas and ticks are present throughout the year, in towns and in the countryside. Check your dog regularly, especially after a walk in the forest, where the risk of catching fleas or ticks is higher. Fleas or ticks like to lodge themselves in and around your dog’s ears, at the base of the tail and on the stomach. Also check your dog's environment (toys, cushions, baskets, carpets, etc.), as the parasites can lodge anywhere in the house. If you notice the presence of fleas or ticks on your dog's coat or skin, treat your animal promptly with a product which kills parasites, to reduce the risk of diseases caused by bites.
