Gently press the central part of the pipette several times to fully expel the contents in one or two points. Make sure the solution is applied on healthy skin. Avoid superficial application on the cat's coat or make sure that the solution isn’t running off.

Fipronil 50 mg, Pyriproxyfen 60 mg.

 Case of 2 x 0.50 mL pipettes.

ACTION DUO Pipette

Use the easy-peel corners to remove a pipette from its blister. Do not puncture the foil with scissors, knives or other sharp instruments, as this may damage the pipette inside.

Hold the pipette upright. Tap the narrow part of the pipette to ensure the contents are within the main body of the pipette. Cut off the top of the pipette with scissors. Part the coat between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze gently to empty its contents onto the skin, preferably at two spots, one at the base of the skull and a second 2-3 cm further back.

Care should be taken to avoid excessive wetting of the hair with the product since this will cause a sticky appearance of hairs at the treatment spot. However, should this occur, it will disappear within 24 hours post application.

In the absence of safety studies, do not apply more often than every four weeks.

ACTION DUO Pipette

For external use only. Avoid contact with the animal’s eyes. In case of accidental eye contact immediately and thoroughly flush the eyes with water. Animals should be weighed accurately prior to treatment.
It is important to make sure that the product is applied to an area where the animal cannot lick it off, and to make sure that animals do not lick each other following treatment.
There may be an attachment of ticks. For this reason transmission of infectious diseases from the tick to the pet cannot be excluded.
Do not apply the product on wounds or damaged skin
Do not use in non-target animals, especially not in rabbits and guinea pigs.
Take special care where kittens less than 8 weeks of age might come into contact with a treated queen as the potential risk of the product to the kittens is not known.
Do not use simultaneously with other flea products which are applied directly to the animal

VETOCANIS ACTION DUO 50 MG/60 MG SPOT-ON SOLUTION FOR CATS

- COMPOSITION: Fipronil 50 mg, Pyriproxyfen 60 mg, Excipients qs for 0.50 ml.

- PHARMACEUTICAL FORM: Solution for spot-on. Clear, colourless to pale yellow solution.

- INDICATIONS FOR USE: For cats: To be used against infestations by fleas only or against infestations by both fleas and ticks. Fleas: Treatment and prevention of infestations by fleas (Ctenocephalides felis). One application prevents any further infestation for 5 weeks. Prevention of flea reproduction for 12 weeks following application, by stopping the development of eggs in adult fleas. Ticks: Treatment of infestations by ticks (Ixodes ricinus and Rhipicephalus turanicus). After one application, the acaricide effectiveness lasts for one week. If ticks are present at the time of application, they may not all be killed within 48 hours.

- CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not use on rabbits, as there may be adverse effects which can sometimes result in death. Do not use in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the active substances or to any of the excipients.

- CAUTIONS SPECIFIC TO EACH TARGET SPECIES: Two laboratory studies have evaluated the effectiveness of the product when the coat is wet 2 hours before application of the product and twice during the period of effective action by the product against fleas (at two-weekly intervals against adult fleas or four-weekly intervals against immature flea stages). Wetting the coat under the conditions described does not affect the effectiveness of the product. The effect of a shampoo on the effectiveness of the product has not been evaluated. If a shampoo proves necessary, it is recommended that this is done before application of the product. From the start of the anti-parasite control measures, in the event of an infestation, the animal's basket and its sleeping or resting areas (carpets, sofas, etc.) should be treated with an appropriate insecticide and vacuumed regularly. To reduce the environmental parasitic impact linked to fleas, it is recommended to treat all animals in the household with an appropriate anti-flea product. The product does not prevent ticks from attaching themselves. If the animal has been treated before exposure to ticks, these ticks will be killed within 48 hours of attaching themselves. This usually precedes engorgement, so reducing but not ruling out the risk of transmission of diseases. Once dead, ticks often become detached from the animal. Any remaining ticks should be carefully removed, ensuring that the mouthparts do not remain in the skin.

- SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE WITH THE ANIMAL: For external use only. Do not administer orally. Animals should be weighed accurately before the treatment. In the absence of data the product should not be used on cats less than 10 weeks old or weighing less than 1 kg. Do not get in the animal’s eyes. In the event of accidental eye contact, wash eyes with water. Make sure to apply the product correctly as described in the “Dosage and route of administration"" section. Do not apply the product on a wound or other skin lesion. It is important to ensure that the product is applied directly to an area of dry skin which the animal cannot lick and also to ensure that the animals do not lick each other after the treatment. The use of this product with sick or weakened animals has not been studied. The product should only be used on sick or weakened animals after assessment of the benefit/risk relationship as established by the vet. In the absence of any additional non-toxicity studies, the minimum interval between two treatments should be 4 weeks.

- SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PERSON WHO ADMINISTERS THE VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCT TO THE ANIMALS: The product can cause nervous disorders. The product may be toxic if swallowed. Avoid swallowing the product or putting your hand to your mouth after use. Do not get on skin or in mouth. Do not smoke, drink or eat while applying the product. Wash your hands after use. If accidentally swallowed, get immediate medical advice/attention and show the doctor the information notice or the packaging. In case of accidental contact with the skin, wash the affected area immediately with water. Do not touch and do not allow children to play with treated animals until the site of application is dry. It is therefore recommended not to treat animals during the day but rather in the early evening, and once treated the animals should not be allowed to sleep with their owners, in particular with children. Keep the pipettes in their original packaging and dispose of them immediately after use in an appropriate manner. Other precautions: The product can have adverse effects on the surfaces, materials and furniture in the house. Wait until the site of application is dry before allowing contact with these materials.

- ADVERSE EFFECTS (FREQUENCY AND SEVERITY): Temporary changes in appearance, such as wetness or slight flaking, may be observed at the site of application. Based on accumulated experience with spot-on active substances, transient local skin reactions (flaking, alopecia, pruritus, erythema, skin discolouration) and generalised pruritus or alopecia may be observed. In very rare cases, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperaesthesia, tiredness, other nerve-related symptoms), breathing disorders or vomiting may occur.

- USE DURING GESTATION, LACTATION OR LAYING: Laboratory studies carried out on fipronil and pyriproxyfen have not shown any teratogenic or embryotoxic effect. No studies have been carried out with this product on pregnant or lactating female cats. The product should only be used on gestating or lactating female cats after assessment of the benefit-risk relationship by the vet.

- DOSAGE AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Spot-on. Dosage: For a cat weighing 1 to 6 kg, apply one 0.5 ml pipette, corresponding to the minimum recommended dose of 8.3 mg of fipronil per kg of body weight and 10 mg of pyriproxyfen per kg of body weight. For cats over 6 kg, the recommended dose of 1 mL should be applied, which can be done by applying 2 x 0.5 mL pipettes. Method of administration: Remove the pipette from the blister pack. Hold it in a vertical position. Tap the narrow part of the pipette to make sure that the contents have moved down into the central part of the pipette. Break the break-off end of the pipette by following the marked line. Spread the animal’s hairs at the base of the neck until the skin is visible. Place the nozzle of the pipette directly on to the exposed skin. Gently press the central part of the pipette several times to fully expel the contents in one or two points. Make sure the solution is applied on healthy skin. Avoid superficial application on the cat's coat or make sure that the solution isn’t running off. Anti-drip system (the product is only released by pressure on the central part of the pipette). For optimal control of flea and tick infestations and of flea reproduction, the frequency of applications may be based on local epidemiological conditions. However, in the absence of additional studies, do not repeat the treatment at intervals of less than 4 weeks (see section “Excessive dose (symptoms, emergency procedure, antidotes), if necessary"").

- EXCESSIVE DOSE (SYMPTOMS, EMERGENCY PROCEDURE, ANTIDOTES), IF NECESSARY: No serious adverse effects were observed in a non-toxicity study on 10 week old kittens treated with up to 5 times the maximum recommended dose 3 times at 4-weekly intervals and treated with the maximum recommended dose 6 times at 4-weekly intervals. The risk of adverse effects (see section “Adverse effects (frequency and severity)”) can however increase with excessive doses, so animals should always be treated with the size of pipette appropriate to their weight.

- SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR STORAGE: Do not store at temperatures exceeding 30°C. Store in a dry place. Keep the blister packs in their outer packaging in order to protect them from the light.

- SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN WHEN DISPOSING OF UNUSED VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCTS OR WASTE DERIVED FROM THE USE OF THESE MEDICINAL PRODUCTS: Empty packaging and any residual product should be disposed of in accordance with the practices governed by the regulations on waste. Do not contaminate ponds, streams or ditches with the medicinal product or the empty packaging as they may harm fish and other aquatic organisms.

Fleas and ticks are present throughout the year, in towns and in the countryside. Check your cat regularly, especially if it usually goes outside, where the risk of catching fleas or ticks is higher. Fleas or ticks like to lodge themselves in and around your cat’s ears, at the base of the tail and on the stomach.

Also check your cat's environment (toys, scratching posts, baskets, litter boxes, carpets, etc.), as the parasites can lodge anywhere in the house.

If you notice the presence of fleas or ticks on your cat's coat or skin, treat your animal promptly with a product which kills parasites, to reduce the risk of diseases caused by bites.
