 Active substance:
 Fipronil 50.0 mg

FIPROCANIS Pipette

Use the easy-peel corners to remove a pipette from its blister. Do not puncture the foil with scissors, knives or other sharp instruments, as this may damage the pipette inside.
Hold the pipette upright. Tap the narrow part of the pipette to ensure the contents are within the main body of the pipette. Cut off the top of the pipette with scissors.

Part the coat between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and squeeze gently to empty its contents onto the skin, preferably at two spots, one at the base of the skull and a second 2-3 cm further back.

Care should be taken to avoid excessive wetting of the hair with the product since this will cause a sticky appearance of hairs at the treatment spot. However, should this occur, it will disappear within 24 hours post application.

In the absence of safety studies, do not apply more often than every four weeks.

FIPROCANIS Pipette

For external use only. Avoid contact with the animal’s eyes. In case of accidental eye contact immediately and thoroughly flush the eyes with water. Animals should be weighed accurately prior to treatment.
It is important to make sure that the product is applied to an area where the animal cannot lick it off, and to make sure that animals do not lick each other following treatment.
There may be an attachment of ticks. For this reason transmission of infectious diseases from the tick to the pet cannot be excluded.
Do not apply the product on wounds or damaged skin
Do not use in non-target animals, especially not in rabbits and guinea pigs.
Take special care where kittens less than 8 weeks of age might come into contact with a treated queen as the potential risk of the product to the kittens is not known.
Do not use simultaneously with other flea products which are applied directly to the animal.

FIPROCANIS Pipette

FIPROCANIS SPOT-ON FOR CATS 50 MG

- COMPOSITION: Fipronil 50 mg, Excipients qs 0.50 ml.

- PHARMACEUTICAL FORM: Solution for spot-on. Clear, colourless to yellow solution.

- INDICATIONS FOR USE: In cats: Treatment and prevention of infestations by fleas (Ctenocephalides felis). The period of protection against flea infestations is 5 weeks. Treatment of infestations by ticks (Ixodes ricinus). Ticks (Ixodes ricinus) present on the animal at the time of the treatment will be killed within 48 hours. The treatment does not protect against new tick infestations.

- CONTRAINDICATIONS: In the absence of data the product should not be used on kittens less than 8 weeks old and/or weighing less than 1 kg (see the sections “Dosage and route of administration” and “Excessive dose (symptoms, emergency procedure, antidotes), if necessary”). Do not use with a sick (e.g. systemic disease, fever) or convalescing animal. Do not use on rabbits, as there may be adverse effects which can sometimes result in death. Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

- CAUTIONS SPECIFIC TO EACH TARGET SPECIES: In order to combat flea infestations in the best way possible, in a household where there are several animals, all the dogs and cats in the household should be treated with an appropriate insecticide. Avoid giving the animals frequent baths/shampoos, as the effectiveness of the product has not been tested in these circumstances. Fleas on pets often infest their baskets, sleeping places and usual resting areas. In the event of very significant infestation, and from when the pest control measures are started, these places should be vacuumed regularly and treated with a suitable insecticide.

- SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE WITH THE ANIMAL: For external use only. Do not get in the animal’s eyes. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, wash the eyes immediately with plenty of water. Animals should be weighed accurately before treatment (see ""Contraindications” section). It is important to ensure that the product is applied to an area which the animal cannot lick and also to ensure that the animals do not lick each other after the treatment. It is possible that ticks will attach themselves to animals. For this reason, the transmission of infectious diseases cannot be completely ruled out. Specific studies on the non-toxicity of the product in kittens under 8 weeks old in contact with a female cat that has been treated have not been conducted. Particular attention should be paid to these cases. Do not apply the product on wounds or skin lesions. Do not use with animals other than the target species, in particular with rabbits or guinea pigs.

- SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PERSON WHO ADMINISTERS THE VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCT TO THE ANIMALS: Keep the pipettes in their original packaging until used. This product may cause irritation to the mucous membranes and the eyes. Therefore avoid contact between the product and the mouth or the eyes. People with known hypersensitivity to fipronil or to the excipients (see “List of excipients” section) should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. Avoid touching the product with the fingers. If this occurs, wash your hands with soap and water. In the event of accidental contact with the eyes, wash immediately with plenty of clean water. Do not smoke, drink or eat while applying the product. Wash your hands after use. Swallowing the product is harmful. Prevent children from having access to the pipettes and discard the used pipette immediately after applying the product. Until the application area is dry, treated animals should not be handled and children should not be allowed to play with the treated animals. It is therefore recommended not to treat animals during the day but rather in the early evening, and not to let animals that have just been treated sleep with their owners, especially with children. Other precautions: The product can affect painted, varnished or other work surfaces or upholstery.

- ADVERSE EFFECTS (FREQUENCY AND SEVERITY): If the animal licks itself, a brief period of hypersalivation may occur, due mainly to the nature of the excipient. Among the extremely rare adverse effects suspected are temporary skin reactions at the area of application (skin discolouration, localised alopecia, pruritus, erythema) and cases of generalised pruritus or alopecia have been reported following use of the product. Exceptionally, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperesthesia, depression, nervous symptoms), vomiting or respiratory symptoms have been observed after use. Do not exceed dose.

- USE DURING GESTATION, LACTATION OR LAYING: Laboratory studies on fipronil have not shown any teratogenic or embryotoxic effects. No study has been carried out with this product on gestating or lactating female cats. The medicinal product should only be used during gestation and lactation after a benefit/risk assessment has been carried out by a vet.

- INTERACTION WITH OTHER MEDICINAL PRODUCTS AND OTHER FORMS OF INTERACTION: Do not use simultaneously with other anti-flea products that are applied directly on to the animal.

- DOSAGE AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Route of administration: by topical application on the skin. Dose: 1 x 0.5 mL pipette per cat. Method of administration: Use the easy-peel corners to remove the pipette from its holder. Do not puncture the film with scissors, a knife or any other sharp instrument as this may damage the pipette inside. Hold the pipette in a vertical position. Tap the narrow part of the pipette to make sure that the contents are in the main part of the pipette. Cut the nozzle of the pipette with scissors. Spread the hairs between the shoulders blades until the skin is visible. Place the nozzle of the pipette on the skin and press gently to empty the contents on to the skin, preferably on two areas, one at the base of the skull and a second one 2 - 3 cm lower down. Special care should be taken to avoid excessive moistening of the hair with the product, which would make the hair in the treated area appear sticky. However, if this happens, this aspect will disappear within 24 hours of application. In the absence of any non-toxicity studies the minimum interval between treatments is 4 weeks. To combat infestations by fleas as effectively as possible, the treatment plan may take account of the local epidemiological situation.

- EXCESSIVE DOSE (SYMPTOMS, EMERGENCY PROCEDURE, ANTIDOTES), IF NECESSARY: The risk of adverse effects (see section “Adverse effects (frequency and severity)”) can increase with excessive doses. Some itching may appear after the treatment. An excessive dose of the product can cause the hair to appear sticky on the treated area. However, if this happens, these signs will disappear within 24 hours of application.

- SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR STORAGE: No specific instructions for storage. Keep the pipette in the blister pack and the box until it is used so as to protect it from light.

- SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN WHEN DISPOSING OF UNUSED VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCTS OR WASTE DERIVED FROM THE USE OF THESE MEDICINAL PRODUCTS: Empty packaging and any residual product should be disposed of in accordance with the practices governed by the regulations on waste. The product can be toxic to aquatic life. Do not contaminate ponds, rivers and streams with the product or the empty packaging.

When should I apply the Action pipette to my cat?

When your cat already has a flea infestation it is time to apply the pipette, to eliminate the parasites immediately and prevent a new infestation. The period of active protection against fleas is 5 weeks.

Can I use the pipette on my kitten?

Yes, the anti-flea and anti-tick solution for cats is suitable for kittens over 8 weeks old and weighing more than 1 kg.

What are the active substances in the pipette?

The pipette kills fleas and ticks lodged in your cat's coat, thanks to Fipronil, an insecticidal substance.

FIPROCANIS Pipette

Fleas and ticks are present throughout the year, in towns and in the countryside. Check your cat regularly, especially if it usually goes outside, where the risk of catching fleas or ticks is higher. Fleas or ticks like to lodge themselves in and around your cat’s ears, at the base of the tail and on the stomach.

Also check your cat's environment (toys, scratching posts, baskets, litter boxes, carpets, etc.), as the parasites can lodge anywhere in the house.

If you notice the presence of fleas or ticks on your cat's coat or skin, treat your animal promptly with a product which kills parasites, to reduce the risk of diseases caused by bites.
