FIPROCANIS Pipette

Use the easy-peel corners to remove a pipette from its blister. Do not puncture the foil with scissors, knives or other sharp instruments, as this may damage the pipette inside.

Hold the pipette upright. Tap the narrow part of the pipette to ensure the contents are within the main body of the pipette. Cut off the top of the pipette with scissors. Part the coat between the shoulder blades and at the base of the head until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and gently apply half of its contents onto the skin at both application sites.

Avoid applying the solution onto the fur and do not rub into the skin.

Care should be taken to avoid excessive wetting of the hair with the product since this will cause a sticky appearance of hairs at the treatment spot. However, should this occur, it will usually disappear within 24-48 hours post application.

FIPROCANIS Pipette

Do not use on dogs less than 8 weeks old and/or weighing less than 2 kg.

- CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not use on dogs less than 8 weeks old and/or weighing less than 2 kg. Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Do not use with a sick (e.g. systemic disease, fever) or convalescing animal. Do not use on rabbits, as there may be adverse effects which can sometimes result in death. Do not use on cats in order to avoid excessive dose.

- SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE WITH ANIMALS: For external use only. Do not apply the product on wounds or skin lesions. Do not get in the animal’s eyes. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, wash immediately with plenty of water. Animals should be weighed accurately before treatment (see "Contraindications” section). It is important to ensure that the product is applied to an area which the animal cannot lick. Make sure that animals that have just been treated do not lick each other after treatment. Specific studies on the safety of the product in puppies under 8 weeks old in contact with a female dog that has been treated have not been conducted. Particular attention should be paid to these cases.

- SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE PERSON WHO ADMINISTERS THE VETERINARY MEDICINAL PRODUCT TO THE ANIMALS - Keep the pipettes in their original packaging until used. People with known hypersensitivity to fipronil or to the excipients should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. Avoid touching the product with your fingers. If this occurs, wash your hands with soap and water. This product may cause irritation to the mucous membranes and the eyes. Therefore avoid contact between the product and the mouth or the eyes. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, wash immediately with plenty of water. Swallowing the product is harmful. Prevent children from having access to the pipettes and discard the used pipette immediately after applying the product. Until the site of application is dry, treated animals should not be handled and children should not be allowed to play with the treated animals. It is therefore recommended not to treat animals during the day but rather in the early evening, and not to let animals that have just been treated sleep with their owners, especially with children. Do not smoke, drink or eat while applying the product. Wash your hands after use. Other precautions: Do not allow dogs to swim in waterways for 2 days following application. The product can affect painted, varnished or other work surfaces or upholstery.

- ADVERSE EFFECTS If the animal licks itself, a brief period of hypersalivation may occur, due mainly to the nature of the excipient. Among the extremely rare adverse effects suspected are temporary skin reactions at the site of application (skin discolouration, localised alopecia, pruritus, erythema) and cases of generalised pruritus or alopecia have been reported following use of the product. Exceptionally, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperesthesia, depression, nervous symptoms), vomiting or respiratory symptoms have been observed after use. Do not exceed dose. The risk of adverse effects may increase if you exceed the dose.

- USE DURING GESTATION, LACTATION OR LAYING: Laboratory studies on fipronil have not shown any teratogenic or embryotoxic effects. No study has been carried out with this product on gestating or lactating female dogs. The use of the medicinal product during pregnancy and lactation should only be done after a benefit/risk assessment has been carried out by a vet.

- INTERACTION WITH OTHER MEDICINAL PRODUCTS AND OTHER FORMS OF INTERACTIONS: Do not use simultaneously with other anti-flea products that are applied directly on to the animal.

- DOSAGE AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION: Be careful to use the correct product for your dog's weight. Route of administration: by topical application on the skin. For external use only. Dosage: 1 pipette of 0.67 mL provides treatment for a dog weighing between 2 and 10 kg. The dosage is 6.7 - 33.5 mg of fipronil per kg of body weight. Method of administration: Use the easy-peel corners to remove the pipette from its holder. Do not puncture the film with scissors, a knife or any other sharp instrument as this may damage the pipette inside. Hold the pipette in a vertical position. Tap the narrow part of the pipette to make sure that the contents are in the main part of the pipette. Cut the nozzle of the pipette with scissors. Spread the hairs in the area between the shoulders blades and at the base of the head until the skin is visible. Place the nozzle of the pipette on the skin and press gently to empty half of the contents on to the skin at the two application areas. Avoid applying the solution to the coat and do not rub the skin. Special care should be taken to avoid excessive moistening of the hair with the product, which would make the hair in the treated area appear sticky. However, if this happens, this sticky appearance will disappear within 24 to 48 hours of application. In the absence of any non-toxicity studies the minimum interval between treatments is 4 weeks.  - EXCESSIVE DOSE: No adverse effects have been found in tolerance studies in 8 week old puppies, dogs in a growth phase and dogs of approximately 2 kg treated with from 1 to 5 times the recommended dose. However, the risk of adverse effects may increase in the event of an excessive dose, which means that animals should always be treated with a pipette which corresponds to their size and weight.

FIPROCANIS Pipette

Fleas and ticks are present throughout the year, in towns and in the countryside. Check your dog regularly, especially after a walk in the forest, where the risk of catching fleas or ticks is higher. Fleas or ticks like to lodge themselves in and around your dog’s ears, at the base of the tail and on the stomach.
Also check your dog's environment (toys, cushions, baskets, carpets, etc.), as the parasites can lodge anywhere in the house.
If you notice the presence of fleas or ticks on your dog's coat or skin, treat your animal promptly with a product which kills parasites, to reduce the risk of diseases caused by bites.
